Singing with a Grateful Heart ♪♫

Have you ever had an absolutely horrible day? One that could easily put you in a terrible mood? Things may not go right, people you talk to aren't pleasant? It happens to all of us but I rest in the fact that my joy doesn't depend on circumstances or people or things.  I can still sing with a Grateful Heart to the God of my salvation who has blessed me with all things! 

"For He knows the way that I take and when he has tried me I shall come forth as gold." This is my life verse and I know that no matter what happens in my life God knows it already. Whether I'm going into a trial, in the middle of a trial or just coming out of a trial, God is always there and knows and cares! I am accountable to God for my actions and reactions. My prayer is that no matter what I will remember that I serve an AWESOME God  and strive to have joy  One Day at a Time, no matter what may happen around me.

 God with all your heart, mind, body, & soul and sing with a Grateful heart!!!

"To Write or Not"

I really am having fun blogging. I don't know if anyone else really cares what I have to say every day but that's ok-I'm doing it for me.

It's funny because each day I wonder-"what will I post tonight?". I told a close friend that I was blogging and she said she could blog 365 days on all her pet peeves!! Too funny-then I started thinking, I probably could too, but that's not what mine is about (and you all said thank goodness).

But I will share something from the positive side:

I LOVE getting mail!! Today I got a letter (it was addressed to the family but I know it was really meant for me :) ) and it was one of the sweetest notes-A THANK YOU note!! Do you know how rare it is to get thank you notes from anyone anymore? Parents don't teach their children to write them, adults don't take the time to write them and the computer age has pretty much eliminated the snail mail thank you notes. People will text a thank you or Facebook a thank you but I still think it's nice to thank someone with a note. It shows that the gift meant enough to you to take the time and thought to send a thank you. There's nothing wrong with the other ways of thank yous but I'm a little old fashioned still I guess. So...when I got this note and it was from a college student, to boot, well, it MADE MY DAY!!! They took the time out of their schedule to write us (and you know what? It was more than one line!) I thought it deserved  'picture of the day and  topic' of my blog for a day. Here's my tip for the day and it's free: Take a minute to write a short note to someone-a thank you or thinking of you. It won't take a long time and it will really make a brighter spot in someone's life as they take it One Day at a Time! (Did I mention I love to get mail??!) :)

First Day of the week: Church, Chili's, & Coffee!

Today has been a good day.

J.W. and I went to church where I taught Sunday School in Bill's absence. After church, J.W. and I had a nice lunch at Chili's. I enjoyed grilled chicken with salsa and broccoli. I went home and put together my Valentine boxes and cards to send out to our "kids"!

My FBBFFFL called me and we met at Starbucks for coffee (my coffee had to be black iced with a splash of nonfat milk and 5 Stevia). I was so excited that I left home in my slippers! :)

But you know what? I didn't even look out of place, especially considering a couple of outfits we saw some people in-do they not look at themselves in the mirror before they leave the house??? (lol)

Then I ran home and changed for church and Bubby and I went to choir. I love the songs we are singing right now. "The Last Amen", "God is Good", and "Welcome Home" are just a few!

AWANA was next where I get to spend time with a great group of 3rd-6th graders! And that was me living today just One Day at a Time!! Have a Happy week everybody!

Birthday Celebration

Today we drove to over the Skyway Bridge to Clearwater to share dinner with my father-in-law so we could celebrate his 82nd birthday!

The birthday boy chose Longhorn for dinner so we all piled into the car to make the short trip to the restaurant.

We arrived and only had to wait a short time to be shown to our table. Our waitress delivered the onion petals quickly and they were enjoyed by most of the people at our table (myself excluded due to my diet-ugh!)

I did enjoy my renegade steak and broccoli while the birthday boy enjoyed his chop steak and fries!

A fun night was had by all! Happy Birthday Dad! He is one who has enjoyed his 82 years One Day at a Time! We love you. ♥

"Instant" Society

As I went through the drive-through for my unsweet iced tea this morning it struck me again how we expect everything to be ready immediately and available ALL the time.

Look at these 2 pictures and tell me if you agree. I wanted to take one more picture but I was driving and couldn't stop on the road-I may add it later. 

"Good things come to those who wait" came to my mind. 

Patience is a hard character quality for us to improve on in our lives.  God doesn't give us everything we ask for immediately. He may ask us to wait or he may tell us no. But I do know that I need to listen to the verse that says, "Be still and know that I am God".  Being still requires time. Next time it takes a little longer for your "fast food" to get to you take a moment and thank the Lord for all He's done for you. Be Patient. We can only live One Day at a Time~

A Great Pick-me-up Day

The tax season has begun!! A lot of strange things happen and the workload increases! I started out with a migraine but today had a bright spot in my day for TWO reasons!! We helped a client out this morning with a meeting and so he treated our whole office to a free lunch from his restaurant! I told him at first that I was bummed because I am on a diet but then he told me just get a salad with blackened chicken on it, so I did and YUM!! So that was nice but then...we had a client that missed his appointment this morning and showed up this afternoon...AND he brought a gorgeous bouquet of 18 roses to give me!! So, today will have more than one picture...just because I can and I thought the flowers were so pretty! God is good and gives us little blessings One Day at a Time!

Look to the Future not to the Past

Sometimes we live our lives looking in the past, comparing everything to what was done before or who we were before. Christ doesn't want us to live in the past but looking to the future and what God may have for us. I think of the verse-I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ...I should daily be striving on becoming more like Christ One Day at a Time.
