A New Adventure

I tried a new activity while we were on vacation. I don't feel that I am an extreme person, but there are times that the reality of "you only live once" does come to your mind and I don't want to look back and have a lot of "what ifs" or "wish I had".  We had a short family beach vacation and the opportunity of para-sailing came into our conversation. Of course, my children jumped at the chance and I blurted out that I wanted to as well. We had to walk down the beach a little ways and my mind did go into overdrive, maybe I didn't really want to go...maybe I shouldn't go...but when we got to the desk I bit the bullet and paid for all three of us. I have heard great stories as well as horror stories so I tried not to think about anyone else's story and just enjoy the experience, you know, living one day at a time. The crew were great. They told us everything we needed to know and answered all our questions while putting on our life jackets and harnesses. They don't waste any time once you get out to the boat. We transfer from boat to boat while tied together and then we take off . They called us up and quickly hooked us to the parachute and before you know it, you are going up into the air. I thought it might feel like a roller coaster but my stomach never took a lurch. It was an amazing feeling. As we were "flying", it was so quiet and peaceful. It was also beautiful up there being able to see quite a bit of the coast and water at the same time. It was only a 10 minute ride but one that was well worth it. They brought us in as quickly & efficiently as we went out and soon we were safely back on the deck of the boat.

Have you ever thought how the disciples must have felt when Christ came and asked them to follow Him?
Matthew 4:18-24
"From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them."
It was three years of a lot of "firsts" for them-cities they visited, miracles they witnessed, people they met, and events that took place. Can you imagine if one of the brothers had said no and then sat with the rest of them later and heard all of the stories and had all of the regrets. It was one new adventure after another. Some of them were not as pleasant as others and there were times they might have wanted to back out, but all in all it was amazing. If you continue to read the "rest of their stories" you find out that they loved Christ and most of them gave their lives for Him. Have you accepted Christ as your personal Savior? If you haven't I plead with you to make the best decision in your life. You won't regret it. You will have the opportunity to have a lot of new adventures-people you will meet and can witness to, place you can visit and opportunities to shine for Christ. Most of our days are just ordinary and that is normal. But every once in awhile, you will have the chance for a new adventure-be willing to go and enjoy and see where it may take you.
