On His Hands

I came across a wonderful verse this week in my devotions.
 Isaiah 49:16:
"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of My hands."
People write on their hands all the time. Teens write messages to make a point. Adults may do it if they don't have paper and they want to remember something-like a name or phone number. We all may do it at one time or another to remember something. It is a great illustration of this verse. God has us written on His palms. We are never forgotten. Stop and think about that. Doesn't that just calm you down and allow you to take a big sigh and relax? God doesn't forget about us-EVER!  It is so reassuring to know that I am important enough to be permanently written on His palms.
When you take the time to write something down it means it has some importance to you. It reminds me of another verse:
Proverbs 3:3
"Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: "
What we put in our hearts is what we will take time and reflect on. It is what will be important to us. If we put it into our heart and mind it will come out in our lives through our actions.
The old adage that states-what goes in must come out-can be used for good. Take the time to read God's Word, meditate on it, memorize it, and have it written on your heart. Remember that God has us written on His palms and that He loves us. We can do nothing less than to love Him in return and as we live our lives one day at a time we can be an example of Christ through our words and actions. If you had a message to write on your hands what would it say?
