Tonight's topic came to me after we had dinner tonight. We ordered pizza. There were 6 of us and we ordered three different types of pizzas. Pizzas come in many different varieties and you can add a lot of different toppings to it. Some people like vegetables on it. Others like meats. I prefer the chicken Hawaiian one with chicken and bacon and ham and pineapple-yum!! My son doesn't like any sauce on his pizza. There aren't any definite absolutes on pizzas-you don't HAVE to have pepperoni on it or just a combo of sausage and mushroom. You can pick a different combination every time you order pizza and enjoy it.
That is how it is in our circle of friends. No two people are alike. God has created us all different and unique. We all have different talents and gifts. We all look different-have different tastes in food and clothing and decorating. How boring it would be if God had made us all clones of each other.
God created a wonderful world that is full of variety. How boring it would be if there were only one type of trees or we could only see in black and white. God loved us enough to give us a colorful world full of a variety of flowers and animals and trees.
Genesis 1:11, 21,25
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
5And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good."
As Christians we all have a common bond of Christ and we have guidelines to help us live our lives by but we each bring our own personalities into it. In a church we each have different responsibilities and gifts that we can use in order to help the church to function together. How boring it would be if we all had the same gift and there was no variety. As a family we also aren't all the same. We each have different personalities and bring different dynamics into the relationship. We learn how to interact and work with each other and complement each other. It can also help us grow closer as a family. It is teamwork.
I Corinthians 12:4-7
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good."
God made us to love and worship Him with all our heart, mind, body, and soul. But you should also be yourself. God made you who you are and as you live one day at a time you can be the "spice of life".
