This is our light that shines outside our home. It had stopped working a few weeks ago so Bill decided it was time to make it better! He took it apart and ordered some new parts and then painted the entire pole and the top and then we waited, one day at a time...and waited...and waited. The inner parts had to come from Hong Kong and I think they came by way of slow boat from China! In the meantime we did not have a light at night. These are the only type of lighting that we have in our neighborhood and you forget how much you rely on them until you don't have them. When we would come home at night if we forgot to turn the garage lights on, it was dark!
The parts finally arrived and the light was put back together this week and boy does it shine! Now Bill is wondering if it is too bright (is there such a thing?) I like it! But it reminds me of how I should be. I am that light to those around me. If I cover up my light then it can't be seen by those around me. I need to be sure that my relationship with God is right-that I am talking to Him and reading His Word and then telling those around me by my words and my actions. Think about how the world would be if we were not here and did not witness. I am so thankful that I can be a light for Him and my prayer is that I will shine as brightly as possible so that people will ask me what is different and be pointed to the ultimate light-Christ Jesus. Remember Jesus said in John 14-" I am the Way, the Truth, and the Light. No man cometh to the Father but by me. "
Matthew 5:14
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
