We will be celebrating the birthday of our country this week. Our country is amazing and unique in the fact that we are a free country that has a government that is to be of the people, by the people, and for the people. My picture today is of the Great Seal of the United States. The Great Seal is normally used on certain documents to prove their authenticity when it is issued by our government. It is also considered our Coat of Arms. It is made up of different symbols and I did a little research to find out what it was comprised of. The Eagle is in the center "supporting the shield". It is holding 13 arrows in its one talon and an olive branch in the other talon. The arrows stands for the original 13 states and the Eagle is turned toward the olive branch to show that it is a country preferring peace but ready for war. I am thankful for the country that I live in so that I can have freedom to worship God. Our country has strayed from its foundation and as I thought about it today it made me realize that I may only be one voice but I AM one voice! I may not be able to change the world but I can make a change in the world and leave a mark on those around me. Am I doing my part? What is my part?
Christ put it very plainly in His Word-
Matthew 28:19-20
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
What is the message? I have stated it before in my blog but I would be willing to state it every day if it would mean that someone would come to a saving knowledge of Christ by reading it and being directed to Him and His salvation.
1. Acknowledge that we are all sinners.
Romans 3:23:
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
2. We can't do anything about it ourselves. We are headed for Hell.
Romans 6:23:
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
3. Confess our Sins.
Romans 10:9-10:
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
You then will experience a freedom that you have never experienced before! We that have Christ as our Savior have the promise of eternal life-freedom from sin and hell.
You can then celebrate one day at a time by rejoicing in Christ and His saving power and grace and mercy toward us in extending that opportunity to us.
Freedom then does not have to be a holiday that is celebrated once a year by parades and fireworks, but it can be a lifetime celebration that can be shared with everyone you come in contact with so that they can experience the same freedom.
John 8:32
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Then we will have a coat of arms or a seal that will set us apart from others and we can claim as our own.
Ephesians 1:13
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise."
Our country may change as time goes on but we can rest in the fact that God never changes and once we are saved we are saved forever.
