Happy Birthday America!

We are privileged to live in the Land of the Free and the Brave. But this freedom was not free. It came at a great price and has continued to cost us throughout the years as we protect our country. Our forefathers came to this land so that they could worship freely. The constitution was written not to separate church and state but to help our country be founded on biblical principles. A lot has changed over the last 200 plus years but we do still have the freedom to free speech and the right to worship how we please.

We may not agree with all that is taking place in our country but we can pray for our leaders and continue to be a witness to those around us. I am thankful for all of those men and women who through the years have served and some given their lives so that we can continue to be a free country.

We also have the opportunity to have another freedom and that is spiritual freedom. It also came at a great price since Christ was the one who paid the ultimate price by dying on the cross and taking the entire burden of our sin. 

We are celebrating the birthday of our country and we can also celebrate a spiritual birthday if we have accepted Christ as our Savior and taken the "Free gift" of salvation so that we can be "free from sin".

John 3:3-7

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

   Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

   Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

   That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

   7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

So, my prayer is two fold-one that as you think of our country you will be thankful for our freedom and pray that our country will see the need to return to our roots and biblical principles that worked so well. Also, that as you celebrate our country's birthday you might also be able to celebrate 2 or your own birthdays throughout the year-a physical one and a spiritual one. If you can't celebrate 2 then change that tonight by asking Christ to be your Savior and giving you new life so that you are "born again".
