Ever have that time in your life that you just feel a little lonely? Maybe it was after a friend moved away or you lost a family member through death. Loneliness can be experienced by all of us in different situations. Loneliness leaves you with a very empty feeling. It may leave you with time on your hands. Other times it is accompanied with physical feelings such as sadness.
Do you know that sometimes people are lonely even when they are surrounded by others all the time. There is a place in everyone's heart and life that can only be satisfied and completed with Christ! If we allow Him to be a part of our life, living one day at a time, as our Lord and Savior then we will never truly be alone.
The world is always searching and looking for "things" to fill their lives-drugs, food, people, jobs, and many other things. These may temporarily satisfy but they won't last like God can. He has promised us this many times in His love letter to us.
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Hebrews 13:5, 6
"For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."
Matthew 28:20
"And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
1 Peter 5:7
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
I have a copy of a puritan prayer entitled "Longings After God". It is known as a puritan prayer.
"Blessed Lord, let me climb up near to thee,
and love, and long, and plead, and wrestle with thee,
and pant for deliverance from the body of sin,
for my heart is wandering and lifeless,
and my soul mourns to think
it should ever lose sight of its beloved.
Wrap my life in divine love, and
keep me ever desiring thee,
always humble and resigned to thy will,
move fixed on thyself,
that I may be more fitted for (serving)."
You don't HAVE to be lonely, lean on God. He will also bring people into your life to encourage you and walk along side of you as a friend who will laugh with you and cry with you and pray with and for you-treasure those friends.
I am many miles from my parents and now my daughter who is at college and there are many times I miss them. But I don't have to be lonely as long as Christ is my focus.
