Ever make a silly face just to get someone else to laugh? Funny faces are just that-funny!
I think it's great when you see an adult making silly faces to get little ones to laugh. There are times when we just need to laugh.
Laughter is a wonderful medicine-it can release stress. I think it's wonderful to sit back and listen to a group of teenage girls that are talking and sharing and start laughing. It's such a joyous sound. Or when adult girlfriends get together and end up just laughing and laughing over silly things. A sweet sound is a baby's belly laugh. When you hear it you just have to join in.
The Bible talks about laughter.
In Ecclesiastes 3 it says that there is a time for laughter.
I believe that God created laughter and enjoys seeing His children laughing. But there are times when laughter is not appropriate-certain circumstances that you may be in when to laugh would be rude. Laughter at crude jokes or offensive language is wrong. We should never laugh at someone else's expense. Laughter should be something that everyone involved can join in on and be a part.
But we must remember that laughter should not be confused with joy. God is the source of your joy (or should be). If you are joyful you can have laughter. But laughter is just a feeling. It will eventually end but your joy can be constant if you look to Christ.
Psalm 43:4
"Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy;"
Remember, The joy of the Lord is my strength as Nehemiah told the people is Nehemiah 8:10
