The Eternal Flame

A fire is a powerful thing. As you sit and look into a fire, you see how it laps at the wood as it burns it up. It can warm up area but it can also be dangerous as it destroys whatever gets into it's path.
The Bible talks about fire in many different situations. In the Old Testament, fire was used to burn up the sacrifices brought to the temple for the Lord.
Leviticus 2:16
"Then the priest shall burn the memorial portion: part of its beaten grain and part of its oil, with all the frankincense, as an offering made by fire to the LORD."
Fire is also talked about in the New Testament.
We are saved by faith. Repentance of our sins and acceptance of salvation will give us eternal life. While we live one day at a time, we need to be living our lives with eternity in view.
I Corinthians 3:11-13
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is."
What we do here on earth will be considered. Matthew tells us that we should seek the kingdom of God first and then all of the other things will be added to us. If we are striving to please ourselves here on earth, that would be equal to wood, hay, and stubble-easily burned up when put into the fire for a trial.
We all must come through the fire. Trials will continue to come and we must go through them as long as we are here on earth. God promises though to never leave us and when we do come through those trials, we can come through as gold-stronger.
There will be one fire to come that will be bigger than any other fire that has ever burned.
2 Peter 3:9-12
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?"
You can avoid this fire and the eternal fire of Hell if you have accepted Christ as your personal Savior.
If you haven't already, please take the time to read the God's Word,  John 3 or the book of Romans, and then pray to God, acknowledge you are a sinner, repent of your sins, and accept His salvation.
