I have waited for MONTHS for tonight...we bought tickets to see Celtic Thunder when they would be in our town for a one night concert. They were expensive but it was my anniversary present and it was definitely worth it. We had dinner at home and after coffee we drove the 20 minutes to the venue where they would be performing. We didn't have any problems parking and the weather was beautiful. We had time to walk along the water around the building to our entrance. To get into the performing arts center we had to show our tickets. Our tickets got us in the door and confirmed that we had two seats, 12 rows from the front. It was a full house. I don't believe anyone was disappointed in the performance. It was great-they are a talented group and it was a very enjoyable evening!
How disappointing it would have been to get to the center and not be allowed in because we had not been prepared and forgotten our tickets.
It reminds me of the parable of the wise and foolish virgins.
Matthew 25:1-13
"“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."
We had the advantage because we knew the exact day of the concert. We don't know when Christ is coming back, but be assured as we live one day at a time, HE IS COMING BACK! He promised us that He would.
John 14:1-4
" “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
In order to be assured that you will go with Christ when He come back, you must have accepted the gift of salvation. Once you have acknowledged and repented of your sins and accepted Christ as your personal Savior-you have a ticket for eternal life with Christ in Heaven! When Christ returns for us and takes us to heaven, we won't be disappointed! What a party it will be-worshiping and praising Him! Don't be left out!
