Get in the Boat

I love to read the stories in the Bible that talk about Christ and His disciples. Some of His disciples were fishermen by trade. There are stories that tell about how one night they went fishing and hadn't caught anything. Christ told them to let the net down on the other side-when they believed and did as they were told their nets were so full they started breaking as they pulled them in the boat.
Luke 5:3-10
" And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men."
They knew their job and how to do it but Christ had come along and was leading them to another vocation-one that was even more important. They had to get into the boat in order to go out in the lake and catch the fish.  It is the same with us. As we live one day at a time-we have to "get into the boat" or go out into the world and interact with all those around us so that we can share the gospel. You have to take the first step. Be in God's Word daily reading and memorizing and meditating on it so that you can understand and be able to share the gospel with anyone who asks.
1 Peter 3:15
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"
As you share, God will open hearts and save souls. Then they too can "get into the boat" so that they too can share with others.
