Waiting, Waiting, Waiting, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock

It's funny how the passage of time sometimes depends on the situation we are in at that moment. As a person grows older they make more statements about how 'time flies'. The hours seem to fly by and quickly turn into weeks, months, and years. Yet, many times when you are waiting for a specific time to arrive or a special moment to get here, time slows down. It still happens for me in a couple of different places---at the end of a slower workday and Christmas Eve! (I still think of myself as a kid at heart!) The clock seems to get stuck or go backwards and it seems as if the time I am waiting for will NEVER get here! But you know what? It always has finally gotten here-exactly when it should!
It's funny because a lot of times it is your perspective on things that makes the time either go slow or quickly. If you are enjoying your time-it will go faster than if you are dreading every moment. Isn't this how life can be in general? I believe that we as Christians should live our lives one day at a time rejoicing with where God has placed us.
Luke 12:26-28
" If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?"
James 4:13-15
"Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”
We can't speed up time nor should we want to slow time down. Since we don't know exactly when Christ will return, we must wait. And while we wait we are to be busy doing the work of our Savior.
Matthew 24:14
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."
