Awarded for their Athletic Accomplishments

Tonight was our annual Sports Athletic Banquet at the Christian School that our son attends.
I appreciate this banquet because it acknowledges the abilities that our kids have but they also incorporate how to have a Christ-like attitude and the importance of playing as a team one day at a time-win or lose! It was a nice evening of food-grilled rib eye steaks, green beans and potatoes with strawberry shortcake for dessert Yum! Then each coach had their time at the microphone to share stories and give awards to their players. I am impressed how they show genuine care for these kids and have details of incidents that happened throughout the season that left an impression on them. Our kids play hard and it shows. Our soccer team took first place on our side and played a good game for Championship only losing 3-2 after double o.t. Our varsity volleyball girls played all the way to Championships as well and represented our school well as they took second place.  It was a growing year for our JV volleyball and basketball teams and the coaches were proud of what they learned throughout the seasons. We are told it isn't if you win or lose but how you play the game but you know it is important to us as humans if we win or lose!! It does helps if you can win :) If you lose you learn what can be be improved and work on it. It is the same way with our Christian walk. If we fail we don't give up. We learn to ask for forgiveness, go to God's Word to learn how to do it right and then continue on. I love the verse that one of the teams used as their theme verse this year.

Philippians 3:14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
What a great goal!!

Another verse that one of the other teams used was good too.

Ephesians 4:13:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

This should be our goal whether we are on a sports team or not!

As a parent I was proud of my son who got most improved in Varsity Basketball and shared MVP with his friend Jacob for soccer. He also received MVP for All Conference! I hope that all of us strive to be an MVP on Christ's team and live for Him with all of our lives!
