A Uniform Defines You

J.W.'s team received new uniforms this year for their soccer team! They are great. The material is lightweight so that it will dry quickly. The colors are school colors. They all look great together-as a team-matching and prepared to play their sport. They each have to have cleats and shin guards as part of their uniforms. When you look at the players you can tell what they are prepared for-ready to play soccer.
As a Christian we also have a uniform that prepares us for our battle. God has given us everything we need in order to succeed. As we live one day at a time, we need to be the best Christian we can be-more like Christ each day-witnessing to those we come in contact with.
Ephesians 6:10-19
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel."
What we must remember though is that even though we have all the components to have a complete "uniform" if we don't utilize them for what they are then we won't be able to do the job properly. We have to be in God's Word-memorizing and using it in order for it to effectively work in our lives. It also takes practice. You can put the uniform on and hold a soccer ball but you won't be able to effectively play the game if you don't know the rules, practice the plays and learn the sport. It is the same with the "armor of God".  Put it on and use each of them for the purpose they are given.
