This weekend we were able to go and spend Thanksgiving with our daughter in college. We had so much fun!! We attended a championship soccer tournament where the guy that our daughter is dating played in and won! We watched 4 of 'our girls' play in a intercollegiate volleyball tournament and come in second! We had Thanksgiving dinner together and went to a operetta and spent a day in Alabama shopping at the outlets, having lunch and just talking and laughing. It was a wonderful weekend that left us with wonderful memories. But as the saying goes, 'All good things must come to an end'. And so this trip did too. We traveled back home this afternoon and after 9 hours in heavy and sometimes slow traffic we made it to our home sweet home. But another 'good things' thought also came to my mind.
James 1:17
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
I am so thankful for all the gifts that God has given me here on earth as we live one day at a time. He has blessed me beyond measure and it would take more than just one day out of the year to list and thank God for all the blessings and yes even the events and circumstances that God allows into my life that may not seem "perfect" at the time.
But, the other thought that came to my mind about good things coming to an end was the fact that, yes, while here on earth a lot of good things will come to an end, but for those of us that are Christians, one day that will change. Christ is coming back! And when He does come back to take home all of those that have accepted Him as their personal Savior will be taken home to heaven to be with Him and we will spend eternity praising and worshiping Him-a wonderfully perfect and good thing that will NEVER end!
Revelation 21:1-4
"Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
