Candy Canes are normally associated with the Christmas holiday. I love the stories that go with the candy cane. One legend says that in the 1600s a choirmaster used to hand out sugar sticks to children to help keep them quiet. He shaped them into a shepherds crook in honor of the ceremony. It says that at the turn of the century the colors red and white became the normal combination with the peppermint flavor.
Some people say that you can correspond the white in the candy with Christ's purity, the red with Christ's blood, and the shape can represent a "J" for Jesus and a shepherd's crook to show Jesus as our Shepherd.
Christmas Candy Cane Poem about Jesus
"Look at the Candy Cane
What do you see?
Stripes that are red
Like the blood shed for me
White is for my Savior
Who’s sinless and pure!
“J” is for Jesus My Lord, that’s for sure!
Turn it around
And a staff you will see
Jesus my shepherd
Was born for Me!"
A candy cane is just a tool. It is a type of candy that is made for Christmas and enjoyed by many people. As we live one day at a time we should use items and objects lessons and everyday items and learn how to share the message with those who cross our paths. Take a candy cane and tie this poem to it and give it to your neighbors and friends. Remember the true reason for the season each time you look at or eat a candy candy is Jesus Christ. Remember that He came to earth for the ultimate reason of taking our sins on himself on the cross for our sins.
1 Peter 2:24-25
"who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls."
