Misfits

We watched the Rudolph Christmas special this past week. I have watched it since I was a young child. It was a little scary in parts when I was little. Now as an adult I look at this television special and can laugh at parts because technology has come so far and the scenes look so fake. But, as a child, it was a fun cartoon that had a happy ending. Now I look at some of the messages that is has portrayed. Rudolph was different from all the other reindeer with his red nose. Hermey was different because he wanted to be a dentist instead of an elf. They traveled to the island of misfits and came across a lot of other toys that were different.
As we live one day at a time as Christians, we are to be different from the rest of the world.
Just because we may be a little different doesn't make us any better or worse than the rest of those around us. In God's eyes we are all the same, across the board-we are all sinners.
Romans 3:23
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
Romans 12:2
"Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed..."
But, we have been offered a gift of salvation that if we accept it then it will make us different than those that don't accept it. It may mean that we won't fit in the mold that the world has set for success but that isn't success in God's eyes.
Joshua 1:8
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
We may not have the perfect smile or hair color or body shape or job or the perfect house but we can be considered perfect in God's eyes through his Son and the shedding of His blood to take away all of our sins.
