Today was our annual Ladies' Christmas Brunch at church. It is normally the first event that kicks off our Christmas festivities. The girls in charge do a beautiful job of setting a lovely mood in decoration and ambiance. The food is always delicious and the fellowship with ladies is enjoyable.
As we close we thank everyone for coming...people's schedules can get quite busy and sometimes you have to pick and choose which activities you will be able to attend. But the most important part is to remember that as we live one day at a time that wherever you go or whatever you do, Christmas is a time to celebrate...Christ.
Food and friends and parties and presents and caroling...are all wonderful things that can be fun in which to take part but the whole reason that we even have the holiday of Christmas is Christ.
Isaiah 9:6
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Micah 5:2
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”
Christ was born in the shadow of the cross. Christ came to earth in human form in order to live here and minister among us and then die on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for sin and conquer death so that we can have the best gift of all, eternal life. He is the Reason for the Season.
Take a moment to remember what the focus should be throughout the entire Christmas season-Christ.
